Some weed products that say they are safe for grass are not. For example some chemicals identify Centipede grass as a weed. That is why people will end up with weed and feed killing their lawn.

Ever wonder why you have huge tomatoes on your plants but they won’t turn red? Once temperatures stay above 85 degrees for an extended period they stop producing the pigment that allows them to turn red, thus stopping the ripening process.

Topdressing your lawn with sand in late fall can help prevent winter kill.

If you are expecting a hard freeze make sure your grass is moist. If the grass roots are moist then the water will freeze around the root insulating it. If the roots are dry they are vulnerable and might not survive.

It takes 4 different weed treatments a year (2 pre-emergent and 2 post emergent) to control the vast majority of weeds in your lawn.

Ever wonder why weeds grow so well in your yard while the grass struggles to grow? It’s all about the soil! Weeds thrive in poor soil and can take over a yard very quickly. If you live in an area with low nutrient soil you’ll need to add nutrients (like top dressing with Dixie Mix) on a regular basis to keep the grass healthy and the weeds away.

My wife and I we have benefited from and enjoy Dixie Mix... We decided to try a no-frills low maintenance "raised bed" style garden in our backyard. Our garden took off in just a matter of days... We highly recommend this dirt to anyone out there who wants the absolute best quality of organic dirt. Last count we had over 30 tomatoes on the way from only 5 plants! They are between 5 and 6 feet tall. The bell pepper plants are between 3 and 4 feet tall. Looks like next year we will have to expand the garden to accommodate such big plants.
